Your files are deleted automatically after conversion, and no later than one hour after upload. How we handle your files

Crop your JPG, PNG or WebP images to keep only what matters: remove borders, frame a person or fit a photo to a square or widescreen format. You choose the area by dragging a box over the image, with no sign-up and no watermarks.

How to crop an image

  1. Select the JPG, PNG or WebP image you want to crop.
  2. Drag the box over the preview and adjust it from its corners, or type the area in pixels.
  3. If you need to, lock an aspect ratio: square (1:1), widescreen (16:9), vertical (9:16)…
  4. Click “Crop image” and download the result.

Why crop an image

  • Remove what you don’t need: borders, a distracting background, someone who shouldn’t be in it or part of a screenshot.
  • Frame it better: centre the subject of the photo or bring it closer.
  • Fit a photo to an aspect ratio: square for a profile picture, widescreen for a cover or vertical for stories.

How to choose the area

When you select the image, a preview appears with a box. Drag it to move it and pull its corners to change its size; it works the same with a mouse or with your finger on a phone. Below, you will see the size of the crop in pixels.

If you need an exact size, type the area in the fields: the distance from the left and from the top, and the width and height in pixels. The box moves to the area you enter. You can also move it with the arrow keys.

Fixed aspect ratios

Ratio Typical use
1:1 Profile pictures and square posts
4:3 Phone photos and classic presentations
3:2 Photos from DSLR or mirrorless cameras
16:9 Covers, video thumbnails and wallpapers
9:16 Stories and vertical videos

With a ratio locked, the box keeps its shape as you resize it.

Quality and format

The crop comes out in the same format as the original image. PNGs are saved losslessly and with their transparency; JPGs and WebPs at very high quality (92 out of 100), so the difference doesn’t show. Rotated phone photos are straightened first, so you crop exactly what you see. We also remove the metadata, such as the GPS location.

If you then want to change the size of the crop, use resize image.

Limitations

  • One image at a time, because the area is chosen on each image.
  • Images of up to 20 MB and 100 megapixels.

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop a photo into a square?

Choose the 1:1 ratio. The box becomes square and is centred: move it to frame what you want and adjust its size from the corners.

Can I crop to exact measurements in pixels?

Yes. Type in the fields the distance from the left and from the top, and the width and height of the crop in pixels. The box moves to that area.

Does the image lose quality when it is cropped?

PNGs are saved losslessly. JPGs and WebPs are saved at very high quality, so the difference from the original can’t be seen.

Is transparency kept when cropping a PNG?

Yes. The transparent areas of the crop stay exactly as they were in PNG and WebP.

Can I crop several images at once?

No: one image is cropped at a time, because the area is chosen on the image itself. To change the size of many at once, use the resize tool.
