Rotate PDF
Straighten a PDF that shows up sideways or upside down.
Straighten a PDF that shows up sideways or upside down, like a document scanned the wrong way round or a landscape table. Choose the rotation and download the PDF with its pages the right way up, saved like that for good, with no sign-up and no watermarks.
How to rotate a PDF
- Select the PDF you want to rotate (or several, up to 10).
- Choose the rotation: 90° right, 180° or 90° left.
- Click “Rotate PDF”.
- Download the rotated PDF, or a ZIP if there are several.
The rotation is saved in the file
Many PDF readers let you rotate the view, but that rotation isn’t saved: when you open the document again or send it to someone, it’s still sideways. Here the rotation is saved in the PDF itself, so it shows up the right way in any program, on a phone and when printed.
Nothing is lost
Rotating doesn’t redraw the pages; it only changes their orientation. So the rotated PDF:
- Has exactly the same quality and practically the same file size.
- Keeps the selectable text, the links, the bookmarks, the form fields and the document information, such as the title and author.
How to choose the rotation
Each page is rotated from the way it looks now:
- 90° right, clockwise: for text that reads from bottom to top.
- 90° left, anticlockwise: for text that reads from top to bottom.
- 180°: for pages that are upside down.
If you get it wrong, upload the rotated PDF and rotate it again: it doesn’t lose quality no matter how many times you rotate it.
Several PDFs at once
You can rotate up to 10 PDFs in one go, all with the same rotation: for example, every document you scanned with the sheet the wrong way round. Each one keeps its name and you download them together in a ZIP.
If you only want to rotate some pages
This tool rotates every page in the document. To rotate just part of it, separate those pages with Split PDF, rotate them here and put the document back together with Merge PDF.
Limitations
- Up to 10 PDFs at once, 50 MB per PDF, 100 MB in total and 500 pages per document.
- All pages are rotated by the same amount.
- We can’t rotate protected PDFs, whether they need a password or only restrict editing.
- Rotating changes the file: if the PDF has a digital signature, it stops being valid.
Frequently asked questions
How do I rotate a PDF and save it?
Upload the PDF, choose the rotation and click “Rotate PDF”. The rotation is saved in the PDF you download, so it shows up the right way in any program.
Why does my PDF go back to sideways after I rotated it in my reader?
Because many readers only rotate the view and don’t save the change in the file. Rotate it here and the rotation will be saved in the PDF itself.
Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
No. We only change the orientation of each page, without redrawing it: text, images and graphics stay exactly the same and the file size barely changes.
Can I rotate just one page of a PDF?
This tool rotates every page. To rotate only some of them, separate them with the split PDF tool, rotate them here and put the document back together with the merge PDF tool.
Can I rotate a PDF on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in your phone’s browser: pick the PDF from your phone’s files, choose the rotation and download it the right way up.
