Resize image

Change the size of your photos and images in pixels or by percentage.

Up to 20 files at once, 20 MB per file and 100 MB in total.

New size

With one side, the other is worked out automatically. With both and proportions kept, the image fits inside without distorting.

Your files are deleted automatically after conversion, and no later than one hour after upload. How we handle your files

Change the size of your JPG, PNG or WebP images: by percentage or to exact dimensions in pixels, keeping their proportions so they don’t get distorted. Each image keeps its format and its transparency, with no sign-up and no watermarks.

How to resize an image

  1. Select your JPG, PNG or WebP images (up to 20 at once; they can be different formats).
  2. Choose the new size: a percentage of the original or the width and height in pixels.
  3. Click “Resize image”.
  4. Download the resized image, or a ZIP if you resized several.

Why resize an image

  • Upload it to a website, an online shop or a form that requires specific dimensions or a maximum size.
  • Make it lighter: a 4000-pixel-wide phone photo reduced to 1600 still looks perfect on screen and is several times smaller.
  • Prepare images for social media, thumbnails, wallpapers or presentations.

By percentage or by pixels

By percentage, the image shrinks or grows by the same proportion on both sides: at 50 %, a 4000 × 3000 photo becomes 2000 × 1500.

By pixels, you enter the width, the height or both:

  • With one side, the other is worked out to keep the proportions.
  • With both and “Keep proportions” ticked, the image is adjusted to fit inside that size without distorting: one of the sides may end up slightly smaller than requested.
  • With both and the box unticked, the image is exactly the size you enter, even if it has to stretch or shrink more in one direction than the other.

Common sizes

Use Size
Instagram post 1080 pixels wide
YouTube thumbnail 1280 × 720
Website header image Between 1600 and 1920 pixels wide
Full HD wallpaper 1920 × 1080
Photo to send by email 1600 pixels on the longer side

Quality and format

Each image comes out in its own format: JPGs stay JPG and PNGs stay PNG. We use the reduction method that best preserves sharpness and save JPG and WebP at high quality (90 out of 100) and PNG losslessly, with its transparency. Rotated phone photos are straightened first, so the width and height are the ones you see. We also remove the metadata, such as the GPS location.

If you also want it as light as possible, you can then compress the JPG.

Limitations

  • Enlarging an image doesn’t add detail: it looks bigger, but softer. You can enlarge up to 400 %.
  • Up to 20 images at once, 20 MB per image and 100 MB in total. The result can be up to 10,000 pixels per side and 40 megapixels.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the size of an image without distorting it?

Enter only the width or only the height in pixels, or both with “Keep proportions” ticked. The other side adjusts automatically to keep the original proportions.

Does an image lose quality when it is made smaller?

It has fewer pixels, but on the screen you are reducing it for it looks just as sharp. We use the sharpest reduction method and save at high quality.

Can I resize several images of different formats at once?

Yes. You can mix JPG, PNG and WebP, up to 20 images, and each one comes back in its own format at the new size, all together in a ZIP.

Can a small image be enlarged without pixelating?

Enlarging can’t recover detail the image doesn’t have: it looks softer. For small enlargements the result is fine; above double the size, it shows.

Is a PNG’s transparency kept when resizing it?

Yes. The transparent areas of PNG and WebP images are kept, including smoothed edges.
